Dawn & Dusk Antiphons, (Paperback)

The purpose of this book is to assist folks who wish to pray the <strong>Liturgy of the Hours</strong> with their own bible for the full liturgical year: Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, and Ordinary Time. For each psalm or canticle, recite the <strong>antiphon</strong>, pray the <strong>psalm</strong> or <strong>canticle</strong>, pray the <strong>doxology</strong> (<em>Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen</em>.), and repeat the <strong>antiphon</strong>. The <strong>antiphon</strong> has traditionally been a verse chosen from that psalm or canticle. Most of these antiphons for Ordinary Time are <strong>Sayings of Jesus </strong>drawn from Sunday Gospel readings: <strong> </strong>In the Sunday Lectionary, the Old Testament reading<strong> </strong>has a connection with the Gospel reading, and the Responsorial Psalm is a response to the Old Testament reading. This means that on any given Sunday there is a relationship between the Gospel reading and the Psalm. The antiphons were chosen based on this relationship. The Antiphons for the Seasons of the Year can give a long view of faith seeking understanding of the Abba, the Spirit, and the person of Jesus the Christ.
